The new Satinine store in Milan reinterprets Milanese perfumery and architectural tradition through a contemporary lens. The project stems from a reflection on the character of the city and its ability to blend rigor and intimacy, memory and innovation.
The space is inspired by the entrance halls of historic Milanese buildings—threshold spaces where architecture becomes a gesture of welcome. This vision translates into a project that elevates hospitality to an architectural principle, giving shape to an intimate space where modernist rigor dialogues with a contemporary sensibility. Much like an entrance hall, the Satinine store offers itself as a discreet and welcoming refuge in the heart of the city: a gentle luxury, designed to be shared.
The store is divided into distinct yet connected environments: the portineria, a contemporary reinterpretation of the reception, transforms the gesture of giving into a ritual; the sensory room invites guests into a muffled and private space to discover fragrances with all the senses; the curatorial space, conceived as an environment in constant transformation, hosts collaborations and temporary installations, projecting the brand into a constant dialogue with the world of design and art.
The interiors of the Satinine space combine design rigor and the excellence of local manufacturing. The project was developed through close collaboration with local artisans and producers, with particular attention to the quality of materials and the local supply chain. The connection with the memory of Milan is tangible in every detail: the Lombard terracotta floor, laid according to traditional techniques, anchors the space to its origin; the glossy ceramic tiles, arranged vertically, pay homage to the typical textures of Milanese apartment buildings; the cathedral glass partitions evoke the discreet luminosity of doors overlooking entrance halls.
To contrast this materiality, the oak boiserie introduces warmth and hospitality, standing in opposition to the cardinal marble, the burl wood and mother-of-pearl counter, and the satin-finished steel details in a balance of contrasts. From the wooden structures to the furniture, down to the lighting fixtures, every furnishing element was custom-made and entirely by hand, in a process that celebrates artisanal mastery and the precision of Milanese craftsmanship. The lighting, developed in collaboration with lighting designer Martina Frattura, envelops the space in a silky glow: a soft and diffused light that recreates the "satin" effect from which the brand draws inspiration. Satinine is a place suspended between past and present, where simple gestures become rituals, and craftsmanship becomes a contemporary language.
